“A Few Haiku (19)”

(c) 2021 by Michael L. Utley

(#109)

I cast my old net
But time swims by so swiftly
I can’t catch my breath

…..

(#110)

Silver waves arrayed
In blue moon-hued solitude
In both sea and sky

…..

(#111)

These old woods have felt
My grand-father’s father’s feet
Walking through the ferns

…..

(#112)

Hoarfrost memories
Moonless midnights freeze my soul
Crystallize my tears

…..

(#113)

There is warmth inside
Near the hearth so why must I
Choose the frigid night

…..

(#114)

Snow covers my tracks
I cannot go back again
All things lie ahead

      1. Hi Mike, Your kind words are much appreciated. I am just trying to make sense of it all in my own way! I am inspired by those, like yourself, who are able to continue to produce excellent poetry.

    1. Yes, finally a more positive approach, eh? πŸ™‚ It’s true, though. No one can go back. All we have is the reality of the present and the hope of the future. Still, it seems as if I’m always strapping on my snowshoes and heading back into the blizzard of the past…and getting lost. I must learn to be kinder to myself and let go of things and just live in the present moment. I’m always pleased to read your comments, Reena. Thanks so much! πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks, Diana, for such a nice comment! I would love to be published somewhere at some point. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a teen. I tried in my 20s with short fiction but gave up after too many rejections. I’ve looked at some haiku sites and would like to submit a few of mine. But a book…that would be the dream come true, you know? Thanks again for your kindness. It means a lot to me. πŸ™‚
