I’m honored and humbled to share with you that my poem “Koto no Yume” has been published at Chewers & Masticadores (formerly MasticadoresIndia). This is the fulfillment of a life-long dream for me—to be a published writer—and I’m deeply grateful to Terveen Gill for her unwavering support and encouragement. “Koto no Yume”

In dreamland forests of my soul I hear
What deafened ears in waking cannot know
A yearning in konara groves
That lilts in silent soft-edged shadows calls

The stream conversing with the hart has hushed
Its liquid-silver voice now mute…

    1. Many thanks. Nancy. It’s a long time coming. I received many rejections for my short fiction in my twenties and then gave up writing for twenty years, so this is particularly sweet for me. I appreciate your kind word so much! 🙂

    1. Thanks so much, Peggy. I’ve had that dream since I was about 15 years old. I had a bunch of rejected short fiction when I was in my twenties, then gave up and stopped writing for twenty years. Then 2012 came along and that’s when poetry got its hooks in me, and I found my voice at last. I owe Terveen Gill a debt I can never repay. I’m so grateful to her for this opportunity. And I appreciate YOU and your constant support and encouragement, too. 🙂

    1. Thank you for thinking of me. It’s been a difficult past month. Depression has been a constant, unsavory companion of mine for as long as I can remember, and it really wrecks inspiration, creative thinking and motivation. Just this solid wall blocking everything, you know? I knew when I began my blog a year ago this would likely occur, and I was dreading it. But I don’t want to give up on the blogging. I really enjoy it when it’s flowing, and I like the community. I’ve come across some wonderful people here (like you) who bring light into my life, and it helps. So, I just have to let this run its course and hopefully the words will return soon. I really appreciate your kindness. Thanks so much for your concern. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much. It was a thrill, to be sure, and I hope it’s not only one. I’m in a massive slump at the moment, a weird occurrence since I thought this would really spur me to write up a storm. But, I’m well acquainted with those fallow fields of the soul and I know I just have to let this run its course. The words will come again, eventually. Once again, I appreciate your kindness so much. Thanks for a wonderful comment and such strident support. 🙂

      1. How strange – I’ve been in a massive slump too. I’ve been trying to get a novel started, a project that I’m really passionate about, and thought would just come out really easily once I’d cleared the space to get started. And it’s just not bloody happening, which is maddening. I’m putting it down to social isolation – even the most retiring of us will eventually run dry without any kind of contact with likeminded souls. I’ve actually signed up for the dreaded NaNoWriMo just to be part of something – it’s probably going to drive me nuts, but tonight at least I’m trying to feel optimistic about it.

    2. Sorry to hear about your slump. I agree with the social isolation bit. I’m extremely reclusive now (have been most of my life) and it’s true that some sort of social interaction with other humans is necessary for inspiration. I end up relying on memories for my writing since I never hang out with anyone, and that limits me to a finite set of experiences. For a novelist, I can only imagine the difficulties one would encounter, especially with dialogue, if isolated for an extended period. When I was young and writing short fiction, I thought dialogue was one of my strongest points. Now? I have no clue how people talk to one another anymore due to deafness and isolation, so that’s a big reason I gave up on fiction. At least in poetry, I don’t have to worry about coming up with authentic dialogue. I’m sending you my best wishes for a deluge o’ inspiration and a flash-flood o’ words very soon. I admire your writing so much.

    1. Thanks so much, Xenia. I truly appreciate your kind support and encouragement. I’m doing all right, I suppose, if mired in a morass of wordlessness can be considered “all right.” 😀 Oh well. Writer’s block is a constant companion of mine: way too familiar and tends to hang around too long. Hopefully the words will return so I can get back to putting them on paper or screen again.     3. The best way to contact me directly is via my Contact page here on my blog. Email is really all I use to communicate (I don’t even have a phone due to deafness). I suppose this makes me sort of a dinosaur as far as social media is concerned, but oh well… 😀
