Winter here has been snowy, which is just what this drought-stricken region needs. I much prefer springtime, however I find winter to be the most inspiring season as far as poetry is concerned.       1. Thank you, my brother. Yes despite the heat and sweat here, my family and I are pretty fine. Glad to hear from you too. I suppose winter inspires much poetry too, cause “when icicles hang by the wall and Joan the cook doth keel the pot, when the owl sings tuu-wit, a merry note”, as so says Shakespeare, then poetry flows more and more through our veins. And yours is a true example. Thanks and have a great time, buddy. 😇

  13. Well done, Mike! The imagery in this is very lyrical – almost old-fashioned. I think that’s because of the range of vocabulary you choose. I feel drawn into the space, I feel the cold, I see the rising moon. I hope you don’t mind me saying, it reminds just a little of LM Montgomery – the beauty and the softness and perhaps even the personification.

    1. Thanks so much, Jo. You’re an astute reader–I did indeed see this setting in an antiquated light. There’s a feeling of an older time here, and I pictured both the moon and the narrator dressed and behaving accordingly. It just seemed to match the emotions that were running through my mind as I wrote this.

      Embarrassingly enough, I was unfamiliar with LM Montgomery so I googled the name and was like, “Oh, Anne of Green Gables!” I’ve definitely heard of this but haven’t read it. My older sister is a big fan, however.
