“Eleven Days”
(c) 2021 by Michael L. Utley

“The wind blows
Those shadows deeper
Into gloaming recesses
Of pine corridors
As aspens
Denuded and shamed
By autumn’s fickle fury
Huddle shivering
In dim dusk

In my heart
Those eleven days
Of silence tore me apart…”

    1. “People are simply complicated, as are silences…” You’ve got that right! Being alone all the time has its drawbacks, but at least I don’t have to worry about trying to interpret/foresee the actions/reactions of someone else. Drama is for young people, I think. At this point, all I desire is peace and quiet. 😄

Thanks for your kindness, my friend. 😊

Mike this poem is absolutely brilliant. I can’t read the full poem on Masticadors as voice over reads it in a foreign language. But from the bit I read here is beautiful.

    1. Thank you kindly, Lauren. It’s always a pleasure to see you drop by to say hello. I’m grateful for your support–especially for these pieces that are so sorrowful. I know they’re not everyone’s cup o’ tea, so I appreciate you, my friend. Here’s wishing you a good rest of the week. 😊
