“A Few Haiku (10)” published at Gobblers by Masticadores

Hey, everyone. The tenth installment of my short haiku/senryu collections titled “A Few Haiku (10)” is now live at Gobblers by Masticadores. These small collections consist of six haiku and/or senryu. I’d like to thank Editor Manuela Timofte for publishing this mini-collection. I hope you enjoy them.

(#55)

Caught like wounded prey
In sharp fangs of granite crags
Dusk sun spills its blood

…..

(#56)

Those coins that fall through
Gaps in floorboards forgotten
Like old memories

…..

(#57)

My heart recalls you
Like my broken bleeding thumb
Recalls the hammer

  1. Beautifully crafted haiku that evoke vivid imagery and emotions! The way you’ve woven together nature, memories, and longing is truly captivating. Your poetry is a masterclass in subtlety and depth.

I’m especially drawn to the imagery in “#55 Caught like wounded prey…” – the phrase “Dusk sun spills its blood” is hauntingly beautiful.

Thank you for sharing your talent with us! I also dabble in poetry and would love for you to check out my blog, where I share my own poetic endeavors. Congratulations again on this wonderful publication, and I look forward to reading more of your work!

  2. Dearest Mike, I left my comment on Gobblers but needless to say, you have certainly mastered the art of “Haiku.”

It is not an easy task to capture the amount of emotion and even the visuals I retain once I read your haiku. They are extraordinary to me. It is like you tell a story with each one. Your gift is amazing, and reading your work is a joy and a sorrow. Your combined thoughts weave a story even with such few words and phrases.

Thank you, Mike. Sending love, blessings and hugs, Joni

    1. Kindest thanks, Joni. Your support means the world to me. I love this format, and when the words are flowing, it’s such a blissful feeling. I’ve always said that flowers are nature’s haiku, but the reverse is also true: haiku are poetry’s flowers. I want to lose myself in a meadow of haiku, you know? Thanks as always for being here, my friend. 😊🌸

    1. Thanks, Diana. I think I’ve lost pocketfuls of coins between floorboards over the course of my life, metaphorically speaking. Some of those lost memories are better left down there in the dark, I think. 😊
