“The Grief of Winter”
(c) 2024 by Michael L. Utley

“In each flake
a brief eternity
the grief of winter
as December bleeds out
and January’s hell awaits

there shall be
no insensate oblivion
no benignant Lethe
no purgatorial reprieve
awaiting us on eternity’s cusp

only the purulent spoils
of our own wretchedness
a just reward for
embracing hate
and abandoning compassion…”

    1. Thanks, Jane. I received a little pushback on this one over at Hotel, but it’s just another sign of the rot in this country. I appreciate your constant support, not only for me personally but also for all decent Americans in general. Would that all folks see reality with the clarity you possess, my dear friend.

    1. Thanks, Cindy. Always appreciate you, my dear friend. Thank you for your constant support. Looks like now both you and I have received pushback on our Masticadores posts from the same person. Oh well. I consider it a badge of honor if, when I speak the truth, someone goes after me. Let them. I’ll continue to speak the truth regardless of what others may say or do.

      Wishing you a peaceful weekend.
