UPDATE: My Poem “This World is Yours” named Publication of the Month at Spillwords Press

Hey, friends. I’m both excited and humbled to announce my poem “This World is Yours” has been named “Publication of the Month for Jan/Feb 2024” at Spillwords Press. Many thanks to Dagmara K. and her staff for publishing my poem and affording me the opportunity to share my work with the readers at Spillwords Press. This unexpected honor caught me off-guard and it never would have occurred without the kind support of so many of you. Thank you so much—this means a lot to me. This is the best community imaginable. Congratulations to all the other nominees whose work is deserving of all the accolades it receives.

I want to give a special shout-out to my friend and fellow writer Nigel Byng, whose brilliant poetry was also nominated. You’ll always be a winner in my book, my friend.

  1. Dearest Mike congratulations my friend. It was such a blessing to me to see two people I both love and admire greatly nominated by your fans. Kind of you to give a shout out to Nigel but I know he is happy for you. It is always an honor to be published on SpillWords Press NYC. To win is an amazing feeling. In my heart you are both winners. Enjoy this Mike, you are an amazing poet. Congratulations again, and I hope you are smiling because Nigel as well as us are smiling for you. Hugs, love and blessings always. Thanks so much, Joni, for your kindness. It was such a shock, both the nomination and the final selection. This honor goes to all of you, all the good folks who support writers in this community. And many thanks, of course, to Dagmara and her team–I inadvertently left this info out (I’ve been awake all night and I’m dead-tired and can’t think at the moment, but I’ve amended my post to recognize the good folks at Spillwords Press). 

      You’ve been such a constant support, Joni. Thank you so much, my dear friend. Your encouragement means the world to me and I appreciate you so much. This community is so supportive and kind. It’s just what a shy, deaf, introverted poet needs. 😊

Oh, yeah, I’ve spent plenty of time (but nowhere near enough) in Arches and Canyonlands! I was raised on a farm in SE UT and both locales were within a couple of hours from the farm. I’ve done some nature photography in both national parks and have a few of those images posted here on my blog (Nature Photography menu section). Click on a pic, you’ll be taken to a brief write-up of the locale and my thoughts about it. It’s a stunningly beautiful area. And it’s a mountain/desert biker’s dreamscape. 😊📷🚲
