“A Few Haiku (3)” published at Gobblers by Masticadores

Hi, friends. The third installment of my short haiku/senryu collections titled “A Few Haiku (3)” has gone live at Gobblers by Masticadores. These small collections consist of six haiku and/or senryu. Kindest thanks to Editor Manuela Timofte and her staff for publishing this mini-collection. I hope these find favor with you.

    1. Thanks so much, Michele. It’s very kind of you. To be honest, these first several collections (I have 60 in all, totaling 360 haiku and senryu) contain a few I find sort of embarrassing. I was learning, and trying to find my voice in this short format, and I was going by the inaccurate and rigid Western interpretation of haiku (strict 5/7/5 syllable count, etc.), and some of these sound sort of clunky because of it. Later on, I learned more about the traditional Japanese form for haiku and senryu and was able to relax my stranglehold on the incorrect Western interpretation and my work improved because of it. So, while some of these bring back good memories of the simple joy of writing, others embarrass me. I hope all the collections are published at Gobblers so what I consider my better-quality haiku/senryu can see the light of day. 😊🌸

      1. You’re very welcome, Mike and I understand. I feel the same about a few things I’ve written that need more polishing upon reflection, however we are all a work in progress and the creating in the moment is what matters most. Just reminded of this… some of my greatest “possessions” are my daughter’s earliest drawings and writings – something quite endearing about witnessing someone’s first steps, regardless of what it is. 💖🙏🏻
