My Poem “Snap-beans in a Wooden Bowl” Nominated for Publication of the Month for October 2024 at Spillwords Press

Hey, everyone. I’m excited to announce my poem “Snap-beans in a Wooden Bowl” has been nominated for Publication of the Month for October 2024 at Spillwords Press. To be nominated along with so many other talented writers is both an incredible honor and deeply humbling. I’m grateful to Dagmara K. and her staff for publishing my poem and for this wonderful opportunity.

If you’d care to cast your vote for my poem, all you need to do is register at Spillwords Press (it’s free and takes only a couple of minutes). Voting concludes October 30, 2024. You may cast your vote by following this link:  https://spillwords.com/vote/

People who know me understand that self-promotion is not my forte so this sort of thing is a bit awkward for me. It’s my sincere hope you’ll take a few minutes to read my poem and cast your vote. I’d be beyond delighted to have your support. I’ve always believed my poetry should do the talking, not me, so if you find my poem worthy of your vote, I’d appreciate it so much.

Congratulations and all the best to the other nominees.

  1. I am with you 100%. I think one of the best things about our writing community is the support and encouragement we give each other to build each other up. I honestly felt a pang of sadness when I was voted author of the month! I did. Your poetry is wonderful. I voted for you.✅

    1. Thank you so much, Melissa. This is so kind of you to say. I agree, of course–lifting each other up is beneficial to everyone and strengthens our community as well as our humanity. It’s why I like our WP community so much, and why it feels like home to me.

I appreciate your support. Seriously, it means a lot to me, my friend. 😊

    1. Thank you so much. It was a nice surprise to see the notification from the editor in my inbox today. It’s a wonderful feeling to be nominated. As this poem is about my late mom, I hope she’d be happy to know this piece has been nominated. She wasn’t a poetry-minded person, but she was always supportive of my creative endeavors. Whatever happens, it’s an honor just to be nominated, you know?

Thanks as always for your kind support. I’m truly grateful, my friend! 😊🍁🍂

    1. Thanks, David, for your kindness. I always appreciate seeing you stop by. I know I’ve been rather absent from the blogosphere in past months and I haven’t interacted with my blogging friends as much as I’d like. I still read and appreciate what’s out there as much as I can, and your work tops the list of poets I really admire. Just wanted to say thanks for being here all this time, even when I’ve been absent. I appreciate your support, good sir. I sincerely hope you’re doing well and staying safe and hopeful. 😊

    1. Thanks so much, Diana. I really appreciate your support, my friend. And yes, self-promotion for me is like having a tooth pulled! I’m so introverted that I don’t like drawing attention to myself. Even blogging is sometimes awkward for me as it’s basically saying, “Hey, everyone! Look at me!” 😕 So, I try to just let my writing do the talking while I hide in the background. Even so, I won’t lie–this is such an exciting honor to be nominated. There’s a bit of validation in that, you know? So, I’ll hope for the best, and be grateful for those who support my efforts. This community is like a family anyway, and I’m glad to be a part of it. 😊
