My Interview Featured at Collaborature

Hey, everyone. My friend and esteemed writer Melissa Lemay was kind enough to conduct an interview with me recently and it’s now live at her website Collaborature. It’s difficult to find someone as talented, supportive and compassionate as Melissa—she’s certainly a beacon of light in our writing community. Thank you so much for this opportunity, Melissa. It’s always fun to talk about writing and I hope your readers enjoy the interview. You can find it here:

“Baring Our Souls on the Page: An Interview with Michael L. Utley”

Be sure to peruse Collaborature while you’re there. It’s a place where creative people meet to work together, and there’s a lot of quality writing to experience.

  1. What a wonderful interview, Mike. I tried to leave a comment on the site, but it didn’t “take”. There is so much to digest in your in-depth responses that I need to read it more than once. As I said in my erstwhile comment following your interview, the more there is to know about Mike, the more there is to admire. 😊

    1. Kindest thanks, Jane. I enjoyed the interview, although to be honest I’m still not sure why anyone would ever want to interview me. I’m just some dude, you know? 😎 Melissa’s massively talented–she was named 2024 Author of the Year at Spillwords Press–so it’s an honor to be interviewed by her. I’m super-glad to know you liked the interview. It brought back a lot of memories, for sure.

Also, my own comment at Collaborature didn’t appear for a while when I first submitted it, but it eventually posted. Might just be in moderation.

Thanks again, Jane. Your kindness is so appreciated, my friend. You’re the best! 😊🍁

  2. This is great, Mike! I love hearing your stories about how you discovered writing and the role writing played – and continues to play – in your life. It seems to have been a tool of redemption in a lot of ways. Congrats on the well-deserved recognition.

    1. A belated thanks, Russ (trying to catch up on comments today). Glad you enjoyed the interview. Melissa had some interesting questions. I think you’re right–writing has been a sort of redemption for me in many ways. I only wish I could write more regularly. When I’m writing, I feel more alive. These long bouts of writer’s block are suffocating. I just have to allow them to run their course and not fight them. 😊

    1. Kindest thanks, Peggy. It was a fun interview and I enjoyed taking part in it. It still boggles my mind that anyone would want to interview me. I’m just some old dude, you know? 😎 Glad to know you enjoyed the interview. I hope you’re doing well and that summer hasn’t been too hot and humid in your part of the world. 😊

    1. Many, many thanks, dear friend. I’m glad to know you enjoyed the interview. I had a fun time answering Melissa’s questions. I’m a very shy, quiet person, so interviews are sort of strange for me, but I do my best. I hope your weekend is wonderful so far! 😊
