“My Jade Remembrance”
(c) 2019 by Michael L. Utley

“I used to know you
9,000 tears ago
A tear for every mile
That kept me from you
A tear for every moment
Not spent with you
A tear for every hope
Not shared with you
9,000 tears…”

    1. Thanks, David. Ultimately, this is a poem about not knowing and having no closure. She just faded away and I have no idea what happened to her, and I never will. She had plenty of personal demons and I couldn’t save her. Man, that seems to be a recurring theme for me.

I appreciate your kind and thoughtful words, my friend. It means a lot to me. 😊

  1. Congratulations, Mike!!
Broke my jade ring around my thumb after I got too excited and my amethyst gold-twine rope with adjustable base bc I got too excited verbally translating “Poe at 13.” To my friends. Anyways, very proud of you. 🫶🏻

    1. Thanks, Bruce. You nailed it–it was indeed a long-distance relationship in this case, which made it so much more difficult because I had no way to just drive over to her place to comfort her. It’s an incredibly helpless feeling to know your beloved is suffering and you can’t wrap your arms around her and make things better.

I appreciate your support, good sir. Thanks so much for stopping by today. 😊

  2. Congratulations on the publication Mikey.
That poem just breaks my heart..I can relate to the love that is so deep and so life changing. The love that just steals a piece of you and leaves you zero closure. It changes you. It feels like a piece of you is missing. And the not knowing gnaws at you in the quiet moments.
It was a sad sad poem Mikey.
Thanks for sharing your pain with us my friend. 💜💔

    1. Thanks, brother. I’m sorry to know that you know what this feels like, but I’m fairly sure most of us have been through something that leaves a huge hole in our hearts. Writing helps to settle the feelings for awhile. I wish I knew–the uncertainty is awful– but I don’t. I just hope she found peace.

I appreciate you, man. Thanks for your kindness. 🙏😊

    1. Thanks so much, Dawn. Sometimes writing about this sort of thing is the only way to deal with it. Thank goodness for poetry–I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t put the darkness into words.

Thanks for stopping by, my friend. I appreciate you. 😊

      1. Haha.. that’s good👍 I love to see ( imagine) you smiling/ laughing my friend🙂 I’m in love with your writing, Mike.
I can understand my dear friend, the ” sudden disappearance” in such relations is really cruel. Anyway, time is the best healer.. I wish it heals your hurts too.
