Hello, folks. I’d like to announce my poem “A Poet’s Lamentation” is now live at Hotel by Masticadores. Kindest thanks to editor Michelle Navajas for sharing this poem with her estimable readers. I’m truly grateful, Michelle.

“pardon my sorrow
and forgive my weeping soul
my humble supplication
loosed into the void on raven’s wings
to fall on deafened ears of fickle gods…”

Thanks a bunch, Carol. Yes, we certainly need the poets, especially now. There’s still beauty to experience in this world, no matter how dark things become. 😊🌸

Your anguish at the world in which we find ourselves is so brilliantly evoked in this poem, Mike. Fortunately for us all, you are not at all bereft of words, even though I know it feels that way. Sending admiration and hugs.

It’s a good beginning but I could not continue to Hotel by Mastaciores because my ESET anti-virus is blocking it, saying there’s a virus on the website. True or not I don’t dare going there.

Thanks, Thomas. I experienced the same issues at Hotel this morning–pop-up ads all over the place and a malicious website warning. I notified the editor (Michelle Navajas) and she was going to notify the owner of Masticadores to let him know the site has been hacked. Not sure when it will be fixed as I haven’t checked it since this morning. and haven’t heard back from anyone.
PS — If you’d like to read the entire poem, you can find it on my blog here:

Thanks so much, Lauren. It’s difficult to keep hope alive in this current darkness. I dread the alternative, however, you know? I appreciate you, my friend.

You’re welcome, Mike, and somehow, we have to keep the hope alive. Otherwise, the alternative is very gloomy. Hang in there, dear friend.

Congrats on the publication. I remember this poem. It’s so despairing, but beautifully written. Despite being bereft of words, there is still soul in your pen.

Thank you, Diana. Sometimes I feel like my soul has run dry, but all I can do is keep trying, hoping for goodness to return, and continue putting words on the page. Surely this darkness will be followed by dawn…and I hope I’m still around to see it.

I was thinking of Gandalf lately and his quote about how we don’t get to choose our time, only what we do with it. Your presence matters, Mike. Collectively we represent hope and make the dawn possible.
