“A Few Haiku & Senryu (62)”

© 2024 by Michael L. Utley

(#367)

river stone cairn
serenity in chaos
as life flows past

…..

(#368)

deathbed
her soul cleansed by
early morning rain

…..

(#369)

in my stillness
I become the mountain
winter squall

…..

(#370)

oneness with nothingness
this world can no longer
touch me

…..

(#371)

my silent world
sound dies
and I die with it

…..

(#372)

my essence diffused
I’m no longer here nor there
a crow’s cry

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words. This is a somber bunch, for sure, but I’m not one to write fluff, so I realize not everyone connects with my writing. I appreciate your constant support, my friend. 😊

    1. Thank you kindly, Diana. Melancholy, yes, but I was so glad to be able to write something new after nearly ten months of silence. I’m okay with melancholy (it’s an alternate spelling for Michael, apparently). I appreciate your support, my friend. Thanks for being here. 😊

    1. Thanks, Peggy. This bunch has a few that sort of follow the theme of finding stillness/serenity in chaos, something I have a difficult time achieving in my life. So many worries, so much turbulence outside of my control. I just want peace and quiet and to be allowed to live my life with as little stress as possible. I’ll be facing some existential threats from the new administration beginning next month because I rely on some social safety net programs just to survive, and those coming into power plan on gutting or eliminating those programs. It’s very likely I’ll lose everything I have, including my income, health insurance and housing. So, yeah, lots of stress here. I want to be that river stone cairn in #367, living in peace amid the chaos and not having to live in fear what these clowns will do.

I appreciate your support, my friend. It means so much to me. Wishing you a good 2025. 😊

      1. Thanks, Mike, I’m praying for all of us this next year. It sounds rough for most everyone and especially so for you. We have a pair of red cattle gates at the bottom of our drive, our favorite remark is, “Let’s just get behind the red gates and we’ll be fine.” If only shutting out the problems in the world was that easy. Blessings, my friend! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

    1. Thanks, Michelle. “The world is overrated anyway…” I totally agree. This one is sort of my climb-under-the-covers-and-give-the-world-the-finger piece. Most of the time I just want to disappear from all the insanity and violence. I’m afraid to hope that 2025 will be better than last year because it won’t be, so I’ve decided not to hope at all. *crawls under blankets* 😊
