Hi, friends. My poem “Fade” is now available at Manuela Timofte’s blog In A Love World. I’m grateful to Manuela for continuing to share my poetry with her readers.
“Fade”
© 2021 by Michael L. Utley
Dusk has fallen as
Stars scream heavenward and doves
Murmur mournfully
Evening-song has come and I
Cannot hear day’s parting cry
Night blooms above as
Insects whisper mysteries
And wolves share solemn
Oaths on phantom breeze and I
Cannot hear dark’s somber sigh…

Congratulations on the publication, Mike! It is a beautifully crafted poem! All the sounds around that nature produces but are not heard also adds a bit of melancholy. Love it!

Dear Mike, this is a deeply poignant reflection on loss—not only of sound, but of the intimate conversation between the soul and nature. The repetition of “I cannot hear” carries a quiet ache, yet the beauty of your imagery allows the reader to hear what the speaker no longer can. A powerful reminder that even when one sense falls silent, the heart continues to remember. Beautifully written.
